Greenpeace does this by investigating, documenting, and exposing the causes of environmental destruction. It works to bring about change by lobbying, consumer pressure and mobilising members of the public.

Based in Brussels, Greenpeace Belgium (around 70 FTE had to phase during Covid a fall of the campaign ability, the media coverage and the engagement and mobility of the supporters. The organisation has then reviewed its strategic vision and started to implement a diversification plan to deliver on a vision and mission future proof. Greenpeace is looking for an Engagement and Fundraising Director (f / m) who will support and co-lead this plan.

Beschrijving van de functie
Greenpeace Belgium is looking for its future Engagement and Fundraising Director (f/m/x), a key strategic player in its brand-new ambitious plan on engagement and fundraising program diversification.

Mission: Deliver integrated and audience centred campaigns and generate income

As the Engagement and Fundraising Director, you provide strong leadership, visionary and strategic direction for your department which includes Engagement, Fundraising and Database & BI teams (~45 FTE).

With the support of your ‘Heads of', you oversee the development of innovative and creative Engagement and Fundraising strategies (Face-to-face, Tele fundraising, Legacy, High giving, online fundraising, offline mail, event fundraising and retention) that will achieve strong people powered campaigns and ambitious long-term financial and non-financial supporter growth. You ensure that the supporter journeys are developed cross functionally with the programme department so that you are providing meaningful engagement opportunities to your supporters to serve both campaign and growth objectives.

People oriented, you develop a trusted and transparent environment. You inspire, motivate, and empower your colleagues, and encourage them to be strategically focused and professional in all aspects of their work. You set up individual objectives, undertake annual appraisal and identify training if needed to develop their skills, empowerment and autonomy. You play a role model in promoting multidisciplinary working groups and circles in the co-creation and shared leadership journey.

You ensure that the Data and BI delivered but also organizational decisions, policies and systems are serving the whole organization. Together with the Finance & Technology Director, you define and prepare reports and projections of annual income, investments and budget.

You represent Greenpeace Belgium in the international communities, share knowledge join project teams, with international colleagues, other NGO's, NRO's, ...

You are part of the Senior Management Team and report to the Executive Director.
Vereist profiel
An inspiring leadership at the collective intelligence service

● You have an extensive experience in growing income through a diverse range of fundraising activities/programs.
● You have a first experience in NGO's or a good understanding of the sector. You adhere to the values of Greenpeace and are prepared to contribute strategically to the realization of the vision of Greenpeace Belgium.
● You have an experience in diverse engagement programs, in public relation and are at ease in project management.
● You have managed and developed cross-functional teams to achieve excellence and meeting targets. You are recognized for your sense of ethic, inspiring and charismatic leadership, creativity and your collective intelligence.
● You are fluent in written and spoken in English, French and/or Dutch are an asset.
● You have a knowledge of and/or experience with different fundraising/engagement programs/tools, BI and Excel. You are well known for your data driven mindset and decision making.
